Last month, we welcomed a 9-week-old golden retriever puppy into our home and he immediately chewed through our furniture and into our hearts. Charlie, now also known as 2 Buck Chuck, Charles, Charlie Boy, Chucky Cheese (due to his love for cheese), couldn’t have come into our lives at a better time. Our once calm and quiet days are now filled with the sounds of little paws running around and the endless hollering of “go potty! leave it! sit! lie down! come! no biting! good boy!”
As a first-time dog parent, I innundated myself with dog tutorial videos and started practicing with Charlie right away. Charlie is a surprisingly quick puppy, and our insistent training is paying off. He slept through the night within a day or two and has gone several weeks with no potty accidents in the house. Much easier than a human baby that’s for sure. He has brought so much love and laughter with with his derpy antics and stocky little sausage body…that is growing alarmingly fast.
Right now he is still house and yard bound until he gets his last immunity shot, but I am already looking forward to many fun hikes, park days, and beach swims with this destined-to-be adventure pup!
